The Dean Karnazes Silicon Valley Marathon
San Jose, California

On October 25, 2009, The Metro Silicon Valley Marathon returns for its twelfth running - the first bearing Dean Karnazes' name - with thousands of participants and spectators alike descending upon the technology capital of the world to compete in one of the most popular running events on the West Coast. Under management by Evolve Sports, LLC, The Dean Karnazes Silicon Valley Marathon offers new and seasoned runners the chance to compete in a Marathon, a Half Marathon, the 5K Run/Walk, and the Silicon Valley Kids Races.

The event is a chip-timed, official Boston Marathon qualifier offering a USATF-certified flat, fast course that highlights the renovated San Jose downtown, its charming neighborhoods, and the beauty of local Northern California scenery along the Los Gatos Creek Trail. All races begin in downtown San Jose at the corner of Park Avenue and Almaden Blvd. The Marathon begins at 7:00AM and offers an out-and-back route that traverses San Jose, Campbell and Los Gatos before finishing just a few blocks from the start line in Discovery Meadow Park. The Half-Marathon also begins at 7:00AM and follows the Marathon route to Los Gatos High School.
